Carers NSW – @ Toomelah

Uncle Roger visited Toomelah to catch up with Elders, Community, service providers and Carers NSW. We were welcomed into the Carers NSW event by Uncle Carl McGrady, followed with a welcoming prayer from Aunt Dawn Dennison. Great curries were prepared by Community and of course Uncle’s favourite – Damper!! The day was initiated by Carers NSW, its purpose was to empower community by making them aware of services and support available to Elders and their Carers: Aged Care, Home Care, AODS, NDIS and mental health care. For Uncle Roger the best part of the day was sitting with Elders listening to their stories, their struggles and yarning about Toomelah’s history. It’s always good to be back in Toomelah – they all our family. Great to meet younger fullas involved in LandCare, cleaning up our Country including our sacred site Boobera.
